Supermoon

Last weekend we got to see an amazing Supermoon. We didn't get many good photos, but we found some great ones online.

This is a great shot of the moon over Brisbane. When we went outside to have a look at it, it was orange and looked so big!

A supermoon happens when the moon's orbit of earth is a little bit closer than normal. There's nothing actually different about the moon, the 'super' is just how much bigger it looks to us. It was really cool.

Mummy and I found some more photos on the internet from all over the world. Do you want to see some?

We found this amazing picture of the moon over New York City. It comes from here.

There are heaps more. My favourite is on this page (I also love the one in London and Mummy loves the one in Washington D.C) - of the moon over Arizona. Arizona is a good place to look at the stars and moon and planets. Because it is so open, and there are lots of places away from city lights, it's a great place to get a good view.

How awesome is this?

The other photo we loved was the moon over Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Did you get to see the Supermoon? Did you get any good pictures?

Have a great day,
